100 Most followed people on Google Plus

Isn't it an irony when your competitor is the most popular person on a service launched by you? Mark Zuckerberg, the founder and chief executive of Facebook invaded Google’s newly launched social network when he signed up to keep tabs on his new competitor.

most-followed-peopleA survey of Google Plus profiles by Social Statistics  indicates that as of Wednesday, Zuckerberg had nearly 45,000 people following him, much more than Larry Page and Sergey Brin, the co-founders of Google itself who have around 30,000 and 23,000 followers respectively.

Its not a surprise that the first ones to signup into Google Plus are people, mostly related to the Information Technology fields. It would have been surprising if Mark Zuckerberg ranked #1 if the service was available to everyone from day one.

These figures are likely to change in no time once the service is open to all.  The ones with the most number of followers are most likely to be Actors, Singers, Politicians, Sports and Religious figures.
